Popular radio jock Angie Martinez abrupt exodus from New York’s legendary radio station Hot 97 caused seismic quakes within the entertainment and radio industries.
The aftershocks manifested when Martinez announced a sudden retirement from Hot 97 after 15 years — only to join up with their longtime arch rivals Power 105 FM, which is also in New York City.
In the Instagram.com post, Martinez, 43, thanked Emmis Communications and the Hot 97 staff. Martinez got her start working in the promotions department before joining Funkmaster Flex on air in the early 1990’s.
Martinez has one child, a son, with ex-husband Tamir “Nokio” Ruffin, 35, of Dru Hill fame.
