The WNBA and P&G’s “My Black is Beautiful” joined forces June 10 to celebrate the positive effect and strong influence fathers can have in helping shape the way their daughters see themselves.
The “WNBA Dads and Daughters Changing the Conversation” was held at the Allstate Arena, where WNBA legend Tamika Williams was the host. Attendees had the opportunity to watch a pre-game screening of the “Imagine a Future” documentary. Afterwards, a panel discussion took place which included NBA legend Adrian Griffin. Other guests were fathers and daughters from Kids off the Block, the Amandla Charter School, Demoiselle 2 Femme and Natasha’s AAU Team.
The WNBA’s Dads and Daughters Changing the Conversation initiative has the goal of welcoming fathers in the beauty conversation. It also celebrates fathers who strive towards encouraging, mentoring and motivating their daughters to know that they are beautiful no matter what their skin color is.
