The equality of women has been a serious and steady discussion of late. After much research, a recent report distributed by the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation Black Women’s Roundtable has indicated that within the last 50 years significant progress has been made but there are many areas that remain in need of dire national attention and urgent action.
Entrepreneur and business advocate Natalie Madeira Cofield is combatting an issue that affected her that is addressed in the report by providing women solutions and outlets through the Walker’s Legacy, a professional collective that works to promote the career advancement, skill sets and networks of women in business and women entrepreneurs.
“While starting my business I found it difficult to locate female mentors and role models,” she said. “As I continued to search, I realized that my peers were also looking for positive, successful and accessible examples of women in business.”
In 2009 she founded Walker’s Legacy from the communal goal of developing an open forum for women to engage and inspire.
