City of Atlanta to Provide Temporary Emergency Shelter For Needy Residents

Homeless ManThe City of Atlanta’s Mayor’s Office of Constituent Services, in conjunction with the Department of Parks and Recreation, has opened the Old Adamsville Recreation Center at 5:00 p.m. tonight as a temporary emergency shelter to provide warmth and sleeping cots for Atlanta residents. The Center, located at 3304 Delmar Lane, will be open and staffed until Wednesday morning, January 8, 2014.
If the need arises, the City will open additional temporary emergency shelters.
Residents needing assistance during this frigid weather should call the Mayor’s Office of Constituent Services between the hours of 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. at 404-330-6023. After 8 p.m., residents are encouraged to call Traveler’s Aid of Metro Atlanta at 404-817-7070.
