SIAC Basketball Players of the Week Announced

siac_100.jpgThe Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Men and Women’s Basketball Players of the Week for week three of the 2013-2014 basketball season.

  • SIAC Men’s Player of theWeek

Kedric Taylor, Paine College
Class: Junior Position: Guard Height: 6-0 Weight: 175 Hometown: Orlando, FL
In one game last week Taylor recorded a double-double with a team-high 16 points and a game-high 16 rebounds in a tough overtime loss to West Georgia.

  • SIAC Men’s Newcomer of theWeek

DarrienWilkins, Kentucky State University
Class: Junior Position: Guard Height: 6-6 Weight: 185 Hometown: Cincinnati, OH
In one game last week the Sinclair Community College transfer came off the bench to score 14 points, pulled down a team-high seven rebounds, dished out one assist and had one block in a loss to #11 Southern Indiana.

  • SIAC Women’s Co-Player of the Week

Jomanda Smalls, Clark Atlanta
Class: Junior Position: Forward Height: 5-10 Hometown: Hardeeville, SC
Smalls led the Lady Panthers to a 2-0 record last week with wins over Shorter University and Brewton-Parker College. The Hardeeville, S.C. native averaged 14 points, 8.5 rebounds, while averaging 1.5 steals and blocks.

Ebony McNeill, Miles College
Class: Junior Position: Forward Height: 5-9 Hometown: Fairburn, GA
McNiell led the Lady Bears to a 2-0 record last week with victories over Oakwood College and Concordia-Selma College. The Fairburn, Georgia native averaged a team-high 13 points, 7.5 rebounds, three assist and 1.5 steals.

Samirah Ali, Miles College
Class: Sophomore Position: Guard Height: 5-2 Hometown: Chicago, IL
The Southern Mississippi transfer led the Lady Bears to two wins last week over Oakwood College and Concordia-Selma averaging 10 points, five rebounds, four assist, and 5.5 steals.

In one game last week Davis scored seven points pulled down three rebounds and had one
block for the Lions.
Ulysses Thomas III, Guard/Forward, Kentucky State University
In the Thorobreds only game last week, Thomas scored a team-high 19 points, while pulling
down six rebounds.
Austin Anderson, Guard, Morehouse College
In three games last week Anderson averaged 14.6 points, 1.5 steals and one block for the
Maroon Tigers.
David Buchannon, Guard, Morehouse College
The Marion, IN native averaged 11.6 points and four rebounds in three games last week.
Jarrel Joye, Guard, Guard, Clark Atlanta University
In one game last week the Harlem, NY native scored a team-high 19 points and four rebounds
for the Panthers.
 
Christian Houston, Guard, Clark Atlanta University
In the Panthers only game last week, Houston, scored 11 points while hauling down five
rebounds.

The 5-6 point guard from Augusta averaged 25.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and two assist in two
games last week.

In two games last week, Wright averaged nine points and 6.5 rebounds for the Lady Lions.
 
LaShell West, Guard, Kentucky State University
The Southfield, MI native scored 21 points and seven rebounds including three assist and two
steals in a win over Southern Indiana.
 
Taylor Sanders, Guard, Kentucky State University
The 5-5 point guard had 14 points, a team-high five assist, three steals and two rebounds in one
game last week.
