Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed will perform the ceremonial coin toss at the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (“SIAC”) Centennial Football Championship game, played on Saturday at Lakewood Stadium, located in the Lakewood Heights Community in southeast Atlanta.
“As a graduate of a Historically Black College, it’s an honor to help celebrate the SIAC Centennial Football Championship game,” said Mayor Kasim Reed. “It’s a wonderful way to help commemorate the SIAC’s 100th anniversary and enjoy a great football game between two worthy competitors.”
“We are pleased and honored to have Mayor Kasim Reed in attendance to perform the coin toss at the SIAC Football Championship Game,” added SIAC Commissioner Gregory Moore. “Mayor Reed will join SIAC NFL legends Rayfield Wright, Nick Harper, Frank Walker, Tyrone Poole and Greg Lloyd, at midfield during the toss, who all will serve as honorary captains for the game.”
The SIAC Centennial Football Championship Game is set for a 7 p.m. kickoff and will feature East Division Champions Albany State University against West Division Champions Miles College.
The SIAC Championship will also serve as a regular season rematch where Miles defeated Albany State 22-14 in a game played at Albert J. Sloan Stadium in Fairfield, Alabama in late September. The Golden Bears, in addition, defeated Albany State in 2011 as the two teams also played in the inaugural SIAC Football Championship Game.
Bounce TV will also televise the SIAC Centennial Football Championship Game.
