Video Shows Kendrink Johnson Was Not Alone When He Died; Family Now Offering $10,000 Reward

A new video of Kendrick Johnson in the Lowndes High School gym in Valdosta, Ga., shows that the teen was not alone on the day he died.

Johnson’s family, in conjunction with Rev. Floyd Rose, is now offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to finding the boy’s killer.

“The family’s hurting,” said Rose, the pastor of Serenity Christian Church and president of the Valdosta-Lowndes County chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. He says he hopes someone will bring first-hand information to light in the death of the 17-year-old high school student.

Johnson was found dead inside of a rolled up wrestling mat in the Lowndes High School gym in January.

“The Johnsons have suffered pain, anguish, heartache far more than any of the rest of us will know,” Rose said.

An initial autopsy ruled Johnson’s death an accident, but a second autopsy commissioned by the family found the teen died of blunt force trauma to the head.

Rose says the $10,000 reward came from a donor who wishes to be anonymous to the public, according to WCTV.tv.

“People turn in people that are close to them for money,’ said Rose. “Some people turn in their own mothers for money.”

The reveredn is asking anyone with information to call 229-444-1938. He says if no one is eligible for the reward within 90 days, the money will be returned to the donor.

Information provided through the hotline will be passed on to the Johnson family’s attorneys and to Michael Moore, who is the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia, according to WCTV.
