An early morning fire on Monday at the Public Storage Facility located at 1790 E. Woodbury Avenue is being investigated. The call came in at 3:01 a.m. and East Point Fire Units arrived on scene seven minutes later at 3:08 a.m.
Upon arrival, heavy fire was seen coming through the roof of a building. Through closer examination, it was determined that 15 storage units were fully involved in a building of 68 units. Fire Crews immediately, secured a water source and battled the flames. The fire was knocked down at 5:32 a.m.
A total of 41 units were damaged: 33 by fire, another eight sustained smoke and/or water damage.
East Point dispatched three engines, and one ladder truck. In addition to the trucks and firefighters, a command vehicle, Car 901, Car 13, as well as the Public Information Officer were dispatched, for a total of 17 East Point Fire personnel on the scene. Atlanta Fire dispatched one truck and one Engine for a total of eight fire personnel on scene; and Hapeville Fire dispatched one Truck staffed by three fire personnel, for a grand total of 28 Fire personnel at the scene.
Rural Metro Ambulance and East Point Police were also on the scene. There were no injuries to fire personnel.
