Clark Atlanta Leads Preseason All-SIAC Volleyball Honors

The 2012 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference defending volleyball champions, Clark Atlanta University, nabbed four selections on the Preseason All-SIAC team led by two-time honoree setter Kailyn Blackmon (pictured) as voted by the SIAC Volleyball Coaches Association.

Joining Blackmon as first team selections are fellow seniors libero Tyneishah Spears and middle blocker Keierica Howard while sophomore Cori Smith garnered second team honors. This veteran nucleus along with five other returners including seniors Chanel Trice and Sierra Graham and five newcomers is on a quest for a repeat despite being tabbed to finish second in the east division.

“This team is a very talented and confident group of players who believe in themselves and each other,” said CAU Head Volleyball Coach Brittany Black. “With four of the five seniors who have played together for the last three years, they are ready to take on this challenge to win another championship.”

Their journey begins Sept.10th, in the Lady Panthers’ season home opener against Emmanuel College at 7 p.m., in Epps Gymnasium followed by Brewton Parker at HOME Friday, Sept. 13th @ 6 p.m. All CAU HOME volleyball games are played at Epps Gymnasium and are FREE for everyone. The 2012 SIAC championship tournament will be held November 20-22, in Albany, Ga.
