An Atlanta gas station store clerk was shot around 11:25 p.m. Monday evening.

The incident occurred at Exxon gas station located at the corner of Ponce de Leon and Moreland Ave.

Jack Alieu, 46, was sent to Grady Hospital after being shot in the back. Police are not sure what led to the attack.

“At this point, we’re not absolutely certain on the motive, although it appears that the motive may have been a robbery attempt,” said Maj. Tim Peek of the Atlanta Police Department.

In surveillance video obtained by police, two men are shown entering the store. One of the suspects moved toward the checkout counter, pulling out gun. When Alieu trie to escape through the back room, the suspect fires one shot and runs out the front door along with his partner.

“There were at least two suspects, possibility of three,” said Peek.

Alieu has undergone surgery and is expected to survive his injuries.
