National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Induct new board members

The National Association of Women Business Owners – Greater Detroit Chapter (NAWBO-GDC) will induct the organizations new board of directors for the 2013-2014 year as well as recognize outstanding member’s contributions for the 2012-2013 year at their annual meeting and fashion show entitled, “Runway to Success”. The event, sponsored by MACY’s will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at the Somerset Collection, starting at 4:30p.m. Festivities will take place on the second floor of Macy’s at Somerset Collection which is located 2800 West Big Beaver Road in Troy, Mich.

“This evening provides the opportunity for us to hear plans from the incoming president, to meet and welcome our new board members. It’s important for our members to get acquainted in order to carry out our mission of empowering one another”, says, Carol Kirkland, President, And NAWBO Greater Detroit Chapter. We are also excited to have this year’s media partner Corp!

As a part of the affair, representatives from NAWBO corporate sponsor’s General Motors, DTE, Comerica Bank, Sam’s Club, among others, will rip the runway modeling the summers hottest and latest fashion trends. A networking reception will take place from 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. followed by the board swearing in ceremony and fashion show from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Tickets for NAWBO-GDC Members are $60 and for non members $85. With the purchase of admission, guest will receive a $25 Macy’s gift card. Elinor Ho, president-elect and event co-chairman says “Runway to Success event symbolizes the team spirit of our members, corporate partners and NAWBO board all working towards the same goal – Business Success”.

As part of NAWBO-GDC community efforts, for this occasion they have partnered with Alison Vaughn, founder “Jackets for Jobs”, an organization that has helped over 14,000 individuals achieve their job seeking goals with proper etiquette and training programs. Members of NAWBO-GDC and their supporters have donated gently used clothing during this year’s past events whereby contributors are also eligible to be entered into a raffle for a gift donated by Macy’s.
