Atlanta Falcons Head Coach Mike Smith will host his fourth annual Huddle Up For Miracles dinner on Monday, April 29 in Buckhead. The event, which is presented by SunTrust and associate sponsors, Miller Lite, Quikrete, Elo Touch Solutions, The Home Depot, and ADP raised $149,360 in 2012, and will again support Children’s Miracle Network, which locally benefits Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
“This is a special opportunity for our players and coaches again to make a difference in the lives of some children in need,” said Smith. “We are looking forward to another successful event for such a worthwhile cause this year at 103 West.”
This year’s event, which will be hosted by Chris Dimino of 790 The Zone, will feature more than 40 Falcons players and coaches who will serve dinner to guests in attendance. The team will also compete for charitable tips and participate in karaoke. The dinner, which starts at 7 p.m., will also feature a live auction.
At the event, Coach Smith will recognize Miracle Child, Cade Roberts, who was struck in the abdomen with a soccer ball that caused severe internal bleeding. During his recovery, Roberts was diagnosed with congenital horseshoe kidney, which could have been fatal later in life had it not been discovered. After three weeks in the hospital, Cade was sent home with two working kidneys and permission to play soccer again.
Managing more than half a million patient visits annually at three hospitals and 16 neighborhood locations, CHOA is one of the largest clinical care providers for child patients in the country.
