DeKalb County Hires Interim County Attorney

DeKalb County CEO Burrell Ellis today announced that Overtis “O.V.” Brantley will serve as Interim County Attorney.

“O.V. has a distinguished and extensive background in local government law, and I am honored to have her as our Chief Legal Officer during the search for permanent legal counsel,” said Ellis.

Brantley’s law career includes providing legal advice and counsel to city and county officials. She served as Chief Legal Counsel for Fulton County for eight years, managing a 39-member staff and outside counsel; and as Associate to Acting City Attorney for the City of Atlanta. Brantley also has private practice law experience.

The DeKalb County Law Department provides legal counsel and advice on the county’s legal affairs including bond issues, contracts, litigation, ordinances, operating procedures and taxation.

Brantley started work on March 18, 2013.
