Ciara is back! After the less than stellar album Basic Instinct was released in 2010, Ciara hit the ground hard and is now ready to release her fifth studio album One Woman Army in June of this year. While her fans wait with bated breath for the new release, she dropped the new single from the album entitled “Body Party”.
“Body Party”, which was co-written by her boyfriend and rapper Future (listen for his “ooo’s in the background) and produced by Mike WiLL Made It, is a return to traditional R&B– simplistic and sensual.
“I think when things just organically feel right, naturally good things come from it. He’ s such an amazing, creative person,” Ciara told Billboard about working with Future. “I can be very creatively expressive myself, but there’s nothing like being able to work with someone that can bring a new flavor. What I like about [working with] him, it’s almost like I got to learn more things about myself.”
Ciara’s vocals are smooth, balancing high soprano notes and rich alto tones seamlessly. The entire song is one huge seduction, enticing listeners to join her private party (or start one of their own). The chorus is hypnotic, guaranteeing that the track will enjoy heavy rotation and high iTunes sales.
The secret treat for fans of 90’s R&B group Ghost Town is the “My Boo” sample in the second verse.
One Woman Army will be out in June and will feature producers Rodney Jerkins, The Underdogs, Rock City, and Mike WiLL Made It as well as cameos from Nicki Minaj and Rick Ross.
