Uninsured and low-income Fulton County women can get a breast cancer screening and mammogram on the house this Wednesday.

From 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on October 17, the Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness, Division of Women’s Health will offer the services free to all women who are Fulton County residents, uninsured, have eligible income and are between 40 and 64 years old. The screenings are part of the organization’s Breast Cancer Awareness event.

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed non-skin cancer for Georgia women, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health.

“October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time we all can encourage the women we care about to get screened,” said Patrice A. Harris, MD, Director of Fulton County Health Services. “Early detection is key.”

At the Adamsville Recreation Center residents can also get a free clinical breast exam, blood pressure checks, glucose and HIV screenings.

Women aged 35-39 who have had breast problems or are at risk may be able to receive free services through this program.
