Saint Philip A.M.E. Church To Host Bermuda Male Chorus

Saint Philip A.M.E. Church of Candler Rd. and Memorial Drive SE will hosted over 50 members of the Male Chorus from Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church in Bermuda on Wednesday, August 22, in the church sanctuary. They will also be featured at both morning services (7:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.) on Sunday, August 26.

The Bermuda Mt. Zion Male Chorus’ repertoire includes southern and contemporary gospel, Negro Spirituals, traditional gospel, reggae gospel, and various music idioms that showcase their wide-range of musical voices. They perform annually at the Summer Gospel Concert series at the Dockyard and each Thursday night in the parishes of Warwick, Hamilton, and St. George in Bermuda. The Summer Gospel Concert series is sponsored in part by the Bermuda Government, Ministry of Community Affairs, and the Bermuda business community. They are on their fifth tour of the US. The Saint Philip Health Ministry and the Saint Philip A.M.E. Church Family also invites the public to join the annual Rev. The 8th Annual Wellness Festival will be held in the Family Life and Administration Center (FLAC)/Hall B from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on September 29. Tailgate Sunday was held Sunday, August 19, with Rev. William Watley, senior pastor, and a grief session at the church was held Wednesday, August 15th. The Free Gospel Interdenominational Church will host its Usher Day program, Sunday, August 26, at 4 p.m. Guest speaker will be Rev. GET DOGWOOD TREES FOR JOINING FOUNDATION

Anyone who joins the Arbor Day Foundation with a $10 donation will receive 10 free white flowering dogwood trees through the foundation’s “Trees for America Campaign” throughout the month of August. The trees for planting during Oct. 15 – Dec. 10, and will be between 6 to 12 inch trees. Planting instructions will accompanied each shipment of trees and postage will be paid by the Arbor Foundation. New members of the foundation will also receive “The Tree Book,” which includes information about tree planting and planting, and “Arbor Day, the foundation’s bimonthly publication.
