Bronner Bros. Holds Clairol “Go For Pro” Hair Color Competition
Clairol Professional®, the brand trusted by stylists for over 80 years and Bronner Brothers, the premier international hair and skin care company catering to African-Americans, has partnered to present the Clairol Professional® “Go For Pro” hair color competition featuring the nation’s premier salon professionals at exclusive events in Atlanta. The event was hosted by style guru and BRAVO TV’s Real Housewives of Atlanta personality Dwight Eubanks along with international stylist, James Harris and 2011 winner, Chicago-based stylist, Chris Curse and held in Atlanta recently at The Loft at Castlelberry. It has already been held in Chicago and New York.

Stylists enhanced each model’s hair color and overall look. Beauty industry icons judge local artists on creativity, technique and overall presentation of the finished work, including hair, makeup and fashion. The winners from each market received $2,000 and a coveted opportunity to compete for the $5,000 grand prize in the legendary “Battle Royale” at the Bronner Bros. International Hair Show in Atlanta.

Renewed Global Urgency To Turn the Tide on HIV & End the AIDS Epidemic
A declaration calling for global support to end the AIDS epidemic was announced recently by the International AIDS Society (IAS) and the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). The “Washington, D.C. Declaration,” which seeks to build broad support for beginning to end the AIDS epidemic through a nine-point action plan, will be the official declaration of the XIX International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2012). The conference brings together some 25,000 delegates, including HIV professionals, activists, global and community leaders and people living with HIV. It will take place in Washington, D.C., from July 22-27 (www.aids2012.org).

The conference is co-chaired by Elly Katabira, president of the International AIDS Society and Diane Havlir, MD, chief of the UCSF Division of HIV/AIDS at San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center. A number of key speakers will discuss the AIDS epidemic.
Scientists, politicians, celebrities and all other concerned citizens of the world are urged to sign the declaration at www.dcdeclaration.org or www.2endaids.org, where the full text is also available in several languages.

Fashion icon and business mogul, Daymond John, comes to Atlanta to meet the city’s aspiring inventors and business enthusiasts. County’s Burdett Tennis Center Receives 6 New Tennis Courts And Renovates 6 Other Courts
The Fulton County Parks and Recreation Department, the United States Tennis Association (USTA) and American Express unveiled twelve tennis courts at the Burdett Tennis Center located at 5975 Old Carriage Drive, College Park, GA recently. The renovations, which included repairing and resurfacing six 78-foot courts and the building of six new youth courts, are part of the Fresh Courts Program introduced in 2010 by American Express and the USTA to support local tennis at communities across the United States.

During the ceremony, District 7 Commissioner William “Bill” Edwards, Ryan Harrison, a professional tennis player, Kecia Voorhees of American Express and Virgil Christian with the United States Tennis Association honored the Peterson Family from College Park, Georgia.
