Mayor Reed Appoints Christopher Ward As Associate Judge On Municipal Court

Recently, Mayor Kasim Reed appointed Christopher Evan Ward to serve as Associate Judge on the Municipal Court of Atlanta. Ward currently serves as the Chief Senior Assistant District Attorney in the Office of the Fulton County District Attorney.

“With over 14 years of public and private legal experience, Christopher Ward brings an impressive depth of legal experience to the Municipal Court of Atlanta,” said Mayor Reed. “He has a keen mind and a genuine interest in the fair administration of the law. He has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the practice of law throughout his career, and I am honored to appoint him to serve the people of Atlanta.”

Ward’s areas of expertise include prosecuting felony cases in various areas including the trial, major narcotics, illegal firearms, and community prosecution and gang units.

From April 2007 to April 2012, Ward served as Senior Staff Attorney for the Georgia Power Company. His practice area focused on eminent domain litigation, environmental law, corporate security, and real estate law matters. Ward also provided advice and counsel to various departments of the company including Land, Corporate Security, Environmental Affairs, Legislative Affairs and Customer Service Relations. As an in-house counsel, he represented the corporation and its employees. In litigated matters, he supervised outside counsel and directly managed all aspects of litigation including witness preparation, motions practice and overall trial strategy. In June 2008, Ward was appointed Associate Judge of the Juvenile Court of Fulton County, serving on a pro bono basis until January 2009.

Before joining the Georgia Power Company in 2007, Ward served as Chief Senior Assistant District Attorney with the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office. Ward managed a staff of attorneys and was lead prosecutor of the Illegal Firearms Unit.

Ward started his career as a staff attorney in the State of Georgia with the Fulton County Office of the Public Defender, where he provided legal representation to indigent juveniles and defendants in the Juvenile and Superior Courts of Fulton County.

He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Morehouse College, and received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Miami School Of Law. He has been an active member of the Gate City Bar Association since 2004.

Ward lives in Atlanta with his wife, Attorney Meka Brumfield Ward, and two young daughters, Linda Christina and Evann Marie.
