Atlanta Press Club Will Induct Several Into Hall Of Fame Here

The Atlanta Press Club will honor the inductees of its 2012 Hall of Fame on Wednesday, October 10, at the InterContinental Buckhead Hotel. The Hall of Fame recognizes journalists for their lifetime achievements, whose careers represent the highest standards of journalistic integrity and ethics. Proceeds from this event will provide scholarships for college and university students studying journalism.
The 2012 inductees are: Anne Cox Chambers, Barbara Cox Anthony (1922-2007) and Gov. James M. Cox (1870-1957) – the Cox Family started privately held Atlanta-based Cox Enterprises, a company that has pioneered in journalism and communication across multiple media nationwide for more than 110 years; Xernona Clayton – former journalist for the Atlanta Voice, Clayton was the first black female in the South to host her own regularly-scheduled talk show, and she is the founder of the Trumpet Awards; Conrad Fink (1933-2012) – Fink served as professor of journalism at the University of Georgia for nearly three decades, influencing many members of today’s Atlanta Press Club; George Goodwin – Goodwin won a Pulitzer Prize for local reporting for a story on voter fraud in rural Georgia while working as a reporter at the Atlanta Journal and is well known for his longtime leadership in and dedication to the Atlanta media and communications professions, and Ralph McGill (1898-1969) – McGill was a Pulitzer Prize-winning editor for the Atlanta Constitution and served as a leading voice for racial tolerance in the South during a time of unprecedented change in the city and the region.
A general reception will start at 6 p.m. with dinner and the awards program at 7 p.m.
The hotel is located at 3315 Peachtree Road, NE, with seating limited.
Members may purchase tickets for $75 and tables of ten, including signage for $750. Nonmembers may purchase tickets for $100 and tables of ten, including signage for $1,000.
