CAU Lady Panthers Win In Opening Round Of SIAC Tourney

The Clark Atlanta Lady Panthers defeated the Lane College Lady Dragons 62-47 on Tuesday, Feb. 27, in a first round matchup of the SIAC conference tournament behind 17 points and 19 rebounds of junior center La’Qiusha Lewis. Lewis came to CAU by way of Georgia’s S.W. DeKalb High School.

The fifth-seeded Panthers led from start to finish, out rebounding the Dragons 56-39 during the contest.

Having previously defeated Lane College twice during the regular season, the win moves CAU’s overall record to 14-12 and into a second-round matchup with fourth-seeded Benedict College on Feb 28. These two split their two regular-season contests with both teams garnering their wins on the road.

Against Lane College, Conisha Hicks scored 15 points and had six rebounds with Iyana Spatcher adding nine points for Clark.

Brittney Peters and Cellonda Crawford both led Lane in scoring with nine each.

Lane College finished the season with an overall record of 3-21.
