Nisha Simama was officially sworn into office yesterday as interim Atlanta Board of Education member, representing District 2. She replaces Khaatim Sherrer El, who resigned earlier this year.
The swearing-in ceremony was part of a Special Legislative Board meeting held yesterday afternoon. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Kimberly Esmond Adams presided at the ceremony.
Simama is a counselor and multicultural coordinator at Paideia School in Atlanta and a former assistant professor at Clark Atlanta University.
Simama will serve as interim Board member until a special election is held in November to select a permanent District 2 Board member.
