Hawks’ Johnson, Horford Make Contributions

For the second straight season, the Atlanta Hawks had two players on the All-Star team, as guard Joe Johnson and center Al Horford saw action for the 2011 NBA Eastern Conference All-Star squad during Sunday’s midseason classic.

Johnson, making his fifth straight All-Star appearance, finished with 11 points, 3 steals, 2 rebounds and 2 assists (4-11 FGs, 3-9 3FGs) in 20 minutes of action.  Horford, in his second consecutive All-Star game, saw 10 minutes of work and ended the night with 2 points, 3 rebounds and 1 block (1-3 FGs).

All-Star Win

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Kobe Bryant won his record-tying fourth All-Star game MVP award to the delight of his hometown fans, scoring 37 points and propelling the West to a 148-143 victory over the East in the NBA’s midseason showcase on Sunday night.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ veteran guard put on another show among stars at the 60th All-Star game, also grabbing 14 rebounds and overcoming LeBron James’ triple-double for the East.

NEW YORK (AP) – The 2011 NBA All-Star game has earned its highest television rating since Michael Jordan’s last appearance in 2003. Ratings measure the percentage of all homes with televisions tuned into a program.
