Tamika Mallory makes excellent points with her column on the loving family that the Obamas represent in the White House. This nuclear family model is built on the strength and values of mother and father. That strength is comprised of love, trust, commitment and security. Pragmatically, financial security is an important ingredient in the strength of the family unit, even if it is not visible in romantic idealism. As couples grow older and retire, however, most have not saved enough to live on,. That's why Social Security is so important. Through the worst of natural and man made disasters, Social Security has been there. But, some in Washington hate this government program and wish to steal it from black seniors and all seniors so they can pay down the debt. Don't let them do it,. If you stand up for nothing else, Stand up for Social Security. If you don't, ask yourself if you can afford to be without it when you're too old and tired to work.
