Early this week, Clark Atlanta University announced that it would dismiss essentially the team's coaching staff, including Head Coach Daryl McNeill, Assistant Head Coach Rod Robinson, Defensive Coordinator Kelvin Powell, Defensive Backs Coach Cory Peoples and defensive line and strength and conditioning coach Jeff Mathis.

The school called the dismissals "a move to shift the direction and change the momentum of its football program" in a statement.

Remaining on the team's football coaching staff at press time were Gus Felder, the team's offensive line coach, Andre Stephny, the kickers and punters coach and four graduate and student assistants, according to ClarkAtlantaSports.com.

"Although not an easy decision, the action aligns with ongoing efforts to continue increasing support for student-athletes in all of the University's sports programs," said the statement from Donna Brock, Clark Atlanta's Director of Strategic Communications.

McNeil was named CAU's head coach in 2010 boasting more than 20 years coaching experience, most recently as the running backs coach at Saint Augustine's College in Raleigh, North Carolina. The photos and biographies of all dismissed coaches have already been removed from the Clark Atlanta football team's website.

The Panthers went 2-8 this season, including a 16-34 loss to Morehouse in the AUC battle. No announcement has yet been made about the school's new coach or other members of the coaching staff.

So happy they got rid of McNeil and Robinson but unhappy they dismissed Powell what a mistake. Powell was s coach that all players need in their life.
