Cast of 'Scandal' Helps Show Draw 2,200 Tweets Per Minute
Scandal, is generating more than 100,000 tweets during its one hour broadcast. In fact, ABC's 10 p.m. drama has viewers talking to the tune of 132,000 tweets in just 60 minutes.
According to The Hollywood Reporter "Scandal's" Jan. 31 episode received 2,200 tweets per minute.
Scandal's Jan. 31 episode did so well that it beat top rated shows like CBS' "Elementary" and NBC's "Do No Harm."
Blame the tweeting success on "Scandal's" entire casts including Kerry Washington and Dan Bucatinsky who tweet during the show with hashtags like #AskScandal.
The show was created by Shonda Rhimes who is also responsible for "Private Practice" and the long-running hit "Grey's Anatomy."
Such involvement has increased the show's second season ratings so favorably that it has become a mainstay on the network—even the repeat episodes are doing well.
While 2,200 tweets may seem like a lot, it pales in comparison to other shows that cater to the teen and tween demographic.
ABC Family's season two finale of "Pretty Little Liars" last March garnered 32,000 tweets per minute, for a total of 645,000 at the end of the show's first broadcast.
