Kimberly Bryant, founder and creator of Black Girls CODE is among a select group of women to receive a Digital Vanguard Award from Women's Interactive, a group which supports women and girls in developing the skills to become technology visionaries and leaders.
The Digital Vanguard is awarded to women of color who do exceptional work with the use of technology as a creative tool and platform to share their work and make an impact on the world around them.
Other techno savvy women who received a 2012 Women Interactive Digital Vanguard Award include: Dr. Ayoka Chenzira, interactive filmmaker, educator, founding director of Spelman College Digital Moving Image Salon; Angela Benton, founder of New Me Accelerator/Black Web 2.0; Issa Rae, creator of The Misadventures of an Awkward Black Girl; Corvida Raven, founder of SheGeeks.net, co-founder of Everything Twitter, The Social Geeks Roundtable Podcast, and In A Third Place.
