Those who turned 50 in 2016 are in glamorous company. Janet Jackson, Halle Berry and Elise Neal are all 50 and fabulous. The year that today’s 50 year olds were born, 1966, was an exciting year; Star Trek and Batman premiered on television and, for the first time, The Academy Awards were broadcast in color.
So why shouldn’t 50-year-olds do fun and exciting things? That’s what Tina Hinton says. She is the president of 50 & Fabulous. The group travels and they plan to host several parties each year. Hinton says there is a stigma about turning 50 that shouldn’t exist. You can have great fun at any age.
On July 27, 50 & Fabulous hosted their first Hawaiian Luau Rooftop Day Party at the Thelma Lovette YMCA. Rain forced the party inside for a while, but the fun continued inside with the lovely Paris as emcee. Guests enjoyed great food, dancing and a balloon release to honor those who are no longer on this earth. Rumor has it that the 50 & Fabulous will be hosting another great party in the very near future.
