This year, FROG Week kicked off at the FROGS House in the East End and the gentlemen who enjoy having a good time and have done so for more than 100 years have put another FROGS Week in the books. Friendly Rivalry Often Generates Success is what their name means.
This year, the FROGS and their guests enjoyed a night at the races at the Meadows Race Track and Casino and dined in the Bisteca Steakhouse in the VIP room. The next evening, July 15, the FROGS donned their white dinner jackets with emerald green accents and gave their favorite ladies a beautiful green and white corsage, and held their annual dinner party at Futule’s Harmar House in Cheswick.
There were a lot of first timers who all enjoyed dining and dancing to the sounds of House of Soul. The week closed out with a “bring your own basket” picnic at the Westinghouse Lodge.
President Clarence Curry says the FROGS is a gentleman only social organization that has been together since 1910, making them the oldest African American (men’s) social group in the country.
