2016 Atlanta BeltLine Run. Walk. Go! and the 6 annual Westside 5K Race and Play Day set for Saturday

ATLANTA- Councilmember Cleta Winslow invites the City of Atlanta to the 2016 Atlanta BeltLine Run. Walk. Go! and the sixth annual Westside 5K Race and Play Day. The event will take place at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, starting West End Park, 1111 Oak Street, S.W.

Councilmember Winslow states, “As councilmember who represents the West End, I am honored that the historic West End was chosen in 2008 to have been the first neighborhood to get the 5K race. Runners are a true melting pot of the various cultures that resign in the COA and Atlanta Metro region.”

The historic West End originated the inauguration of the 5K race in 2008. This event invites runners on all fitness levels to participate in the day’s festivities. Hundreds of participants walk/run through the historic West End and Westview neighborhoods traveling along the West End Trail.

The Atlanta BeltLine Westside 5K is part of the 2016 Run.Walk.Go! race series; which engages the public by providing opportunities to explore various trail segments of the Atlanta BeltLine, while staying active.

Race proceeds will benefit the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership, the nonprofit organization charged with raising funds and building broad-based support for the Atlanta BeltLine. Presenting sponsors of the event are: Delta Airlines, REI, Astra, Kaiser Permanente, AJC/Living Intown, West Stride and Kroger. Play Day sponsors is NEEF and Toyota.

Participants are encouraged to register as a team as the Atlanta BeltLine Westside 5K will provide awards to the largest, fastest and top fundraising teams. The Atlanta Police and Atlanta Fire Rescue Department will also face off in a friendly team challenge with the overall winner receiving a trophy.
