During a segment on police violence Thursday, Trevor Noah said that admitting there is a problem is the first step.
”I shouldn’t even be afraid to say it. America has a problem within its police force,” The Daily Show host said, adding that “this is an American problem.”
Noah went on to note that the Las Vegas Police Department took that first step and has since decreased the number of police shootings, reports The Huffington Post.
“If the police can get their shit together in a city where you can rent a tiger and then get married to a Filipino Elvis Presley, then in my opinion the rest of America has no excuse,” said Noah.
Noah made his comments in response to the fatal police shootings of Philando Castile and Alton Sterling, which happened earlier this week.
He joins President Obama, Killer Mike, Jay Z and his wife, Beyonce—and other public figures—in expressing that there is a problem with the killing of people of color in the United states.
