“We Come This Far By Faith” was the theme of the Centennial Celebration of the Zion Baptist Church Of McKeesport, Pa. The event was recently held at the Georgetown Centre in Pleasant Hills.

Much of the church’s history was proudly shared by Deacon Richard L. Harris, a 77 year member of the Church as the many descendants of past members looked on. Reverend Richard W. Truss, current and 5th pastor,  spoke fondly of his spiritual formation in the church as a young man and made reference to the many other preachers in the surrounding communities who have heritage in Zion Baptist Church.

Honorariums were given to three of the original members of the church and several Proclamations were presented by Matthew R. Gergely, McKeesport city administrator. Guest Pastor William C. Callaway of Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Clairton was the featured speaker for the celebration.
