Wells Fargo is celebrating the importance of teaching young people about the basics of financial literacy as it cuts the ribbon on a new community banking location at 650 Ponce De Leon Ave NE in Midtown Place.

“We are pleased to be here in Midtown Place and serving citizens along the Beltline,” said Mike Donnelly, Atlanta Region President and Chair of the Atlanta Beltline Partnership.

“Wells Fargo is deeply committed to being a trusted partner in strengthening the communities where it does business and their call to action for parents to seek financial education for their children is another example,” said Paul F. Morris, Atlanta BeltLine Inc., President and CEO.

Wells Fargo annually partners with the American Bankers Association for its “Teach Children to Save” initiative in April, but expands its own effort into one that kicked off March 15.  Between March 15 and April 30, Atlanta-area Wells Fargo bankers will teach at least 150 classes in schools, community centers and other community-focused sites.

For one week, March 18-25, additional bankers will be on site at the new Ponce de Leon location to be available to parents who want to:

  • open a savings account for their children – (there is no fee associated with opening a savings account for a minor.)
  • receive helpful materials children and parents can use together to learn more about saving, spending and making sound financial decisions (while supplies last.)
  • visit with a personal banker on site to discuss “Teach Children to Save” basics

“We are delighted to join the neighborhood,” says Donnelly, “and we are especially looking forward to talking with parents about how we can help them teach their children good financial habits. We hope they get the ball rolling by opening a savings account with us, but what is most important is that they take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about how to help their children succeed.”

The new location, which employs 8 Wells Fargo team members, is open Monday through Thursday 9A-4P, Friday, 9A-6P, and on Saturday 9A-1P.

This is also the first Wells Fargo store in the Southeast to feature new technology that combines the ATM, teller and banker systems for both full-service and self-service options.
