Absalom Jones Day

FEB. 12—The Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh will host its 2016 Absalom Jones Day Celebration at Trinity Cathedral, 328 Sixth Ave., Downtown. The theme is “Race to Reconciliation: Prayer.” The two-day event, which will be held Feb. 12-13 to celebrate Absalom Jones, the first African American to be ordained to the priesthood of the Episcopal Church, will include a WORD War Movement and a Holy Eucharist with Bishop McConnell and Rev. Bowling Party

Valentine’s Ball

FEB. 13—CSSS will host the Kingdom Sons & Daughters Valentine’s Ball at the Georgetown Centre, 526 E. Bruceton Rd., Pittsburgh. Ladies are asked to wear their best dress or gown and gentlemen should sport their best suit or tuxedo. This will be a night full of fun, food, laughs and dancing. Reservations are required. Kick Boxing

FEB. 13—Brown Chapel AME Church, 1400 Boyle St., North Side, will host a Kick Boxing Class at 10 a.m. Every Saturday, instructor Melodye Gay will teach the fundamentals of kick boxing. Urban League Sunday

FEB. 14—The Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh will host its Urban League Sunday from 4-6 p.m. at Wesley Center AMEZ Church, 2701 Centre Ave., Hill District. The evening’s special guests will be Rev. B. DeNeice Welch of Bidwell Presbyterian Church and the Pittsburgh Combined Male Choir, under the direction of Rev. Deryck Tines. This event is free and open to the public. Spiritual Lecture

FEB. 26—Salaam Aliakum will host “The Guide to Spiritual Development” from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Homewood-Brushton YMCA, 7140 Bennett St., Homewood. The lecture, given by Abdul Hakeem Saalih, will include topics, such as: What is spiritual development, and its benefits and extent; what is the path to spiritual development and how it’s identified; obstacles to achieving spiritual development; and more.
