Fellowship, fun and fundraising were the key components of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.’s Annual Card Party and Luncheon on Jan. 16, at the Monroeville Doubletree Hotel. Hundreds of ladies gathered to enjoy an event that has become a January favorite.
There are always an abundance of door prizes and exciting silent auction items to bid on. Some of the baskets were so large that the winners needed help getting them to the car. There was an “I Don’t’ Cook” basket, an “All about the Blue Basket” and a Christmas tree full of Pa. Lottery tickets. Needless to say the winners were ecstatic when their numbers were called.
Pittsburgh Alumnae Chapter President Diana Jaden welcomed the large crowd while Rhonda Carson Leach served as the mistress of ceremonies. Carolyn Davis delivered the invocation and also made a return performance as the bingo caller. After lunch it was time for card games: Bridge, Pinochle, Bid whist, Spades and Bingo at a whole new level.
Rochelle Chatman, Tynesha Frazier and Rhonda Carson Leach served as event chairs. The Annual Card Party raises funds for Delta Sigma Theta programs.
