The Detroit Branch NAACP’s Shop Detroit campaign encourages support of Detroit based businesses during the holiday season.  The campaign kicks-off this morning on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 1917 American Bistro located in the City’s historic Avenue of Fashions.

On Saturday, Dec. 5 from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., shoppers will be encouraged to visit vendors participating in the 22nd Annual Holiday Christmas Bazaar that will be held at Fellowship Chapel located at 7707 W. Outer Drive.

Additionally, during the Shop Detroit campaign, the Detroit Branch NAACP will feature local businesses and special promotions on their social media pages and website.  The Detroit Branch NAACP’s Shop Detroit campaign is done in partnership with the City of Detroit and their recent release of “Dream It. Do. It. Detroit,” a neighborhood small business directory.

The Detroit Branch NAACP first began its efforts to increase in-store traffic for Black-owned and Detroit based business in 1988.  “The Buy Black, Buy Detroit” Campaign provided a retail shop and services guide to assist holiday shoppers.  Now known as “Shop Detroit” the campaign is very much alive covering the entire City of Detroit.
