Atlanta Heights celebrates Red Ribbon Week

red ribbon weekOn Tuesday, Oct. 27, students at Atlanta Heights Charter School will begin celebrating Red Ribbon Week, which includes a variety of dress-up days that aim at spreading a message against drug use. Some of the dress-up themes include: tackling drugs (Tuesday), giving drugs the “boot” and shading them out (Wednesday), sock it to drugs (Thursday), and sleeping on drugs (Friday). There will also be a door-decorating competition among classrooms. The week’s events conclude on Friday, Oct. 30, 2015.
The initiative is a great way to use this time of year when people of all ages love to dress up in creative costumes; however, in this case, it is to promote a positive cause. Atlanta Heights Charter School, operated by National Heritage Academies, is a free public charter school serving students in grades kindergarten through eighth. It is located at 3712 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW,
Atlanta, GA 30331.
Even if you do not attend the school or know a student who does, do not let that stop you from reaching out and offering support. Perhaps, an activity like this will inspire other students across the area and in other locations to utilize playing “dress up” for a useful cause.
