Detroit Institute of Arts hosts a Secret Society of Twisted Storytellers performance
Storytelling, live music and dance combine in program related to “30 Americans” exhibition
The Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) hosts The Secret Society of Twisted Storytellers presenting “Tales from the Funk with George Clinton” on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 8 p.m.
Clinton, of Parliament Funkadelic fame, and four other storytellers will relate real-life tales that carry the theme “transforming,” one of the ideas expressed by artists in the “30 Americans” exhibition currently on view at the DIA. The evening also features musical guest Thornetta Davis and a dance performance staged by Gina Ellis, a long-time collaborator with noted choreographer George Faison.
Tickets are $20 for the balcony; $30 for main floor, rear; $40 for main floor, middle; and $50 for main floor, front. A $3.50 fee is charged for tickets purchased online or by phone. Visit dia.org or call 313-833-4005. Tickets can also be purchased at the DIA with no service charge.
