SNELLVILLE, Ga. — The two brothers charged with trying to kill their parents initially drugged them with the intention of blowing up their home with them inside, a plan that failed.
Christopher, 22, and Cameron Ervin 17, blamed a “bad home life” as the reason they clandestinely slipped their parents Zachary and Yvonne Ervin  the drug Xanax to put them to sleep. They then allegedly cut a gas line in the house and then lit a candle in the fireplace. Afterwards, they reportedly waited outside for two hours for an explosion that never took place, Gwinnett District Attorney Danny Porter explained the brother told authorities.
When the explosion never happened, they went in and tried to beat the mother with a shotgun and kill the father with knives.
The brothers’ claims of being battered kids, however, just doesn’t hold water.
“The claims don’t seem believable,” Porter told WSB, adding they may never know the entire truth and rationale behind the attempted murder of their parents.
The brothers, being held separately in the Gwinnett County Jail without bond, are due to face a judge on Friday morning.
