It’s time to celebrate everyone’s bodies for what they are. Join the National Eating Disorders Association and it’s national walk sponsor, Aerie, to help combat eating disorders and unrealistic “body perfect” ideals.

To raise funds, spread awareness about the seriousness of eating disorders and support the local community, NEDA is holding its fifth annual Chicago NEDA Walk, themed NEDA Walk. Save a Life. Participants will walk in the fifth annual Chicago NEDA Walk Sept. 19 at 10 a.m. at Lincoln Park, Diversey Harbor, 2601 N. Cannon Dr. Registration is $25 per adult, $15 per student, $10 per child 12 and under and $5 per pet.

As part of the company’s commitment to promoting body-positivity, the intimate apparel brand Aerie has partnered with NEDA as the lead sponsor of the non-profit’s ongoing national walks awareness program, which raises funds for advocacy and educational programs, spreads awareness about the seriousness of eating disorders and provides support for the local community.

NEDA holds more than 65 walks each year in cities across the nation to bring communities together in the fight against eating disorders. NEDA’s programs and services are designed to support individuals and families affected by eating disorders.

In the United States, 20 million women and 10 million men suffer from a clinically significant eating disorder at some time in their life, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, or an eating disorder not otherwise specified (EDNOS). Anorexia nervosa has the highest fatality rate of any mental illness. But there is hope and there is help!
