Mother of Slain Infant Files Civil Suit

The mother of slain 13-month-old Dillan Harris has filed a civil lawsuit against the Chicago Police Department and Harris’ alleged killer, Antoine Watkins.

Shatrelle McComb filed a civil suit against Watkins and the CPD alleging that willful and wanton conduct, negligence and infliction of emotional distress, which resulted in death of her infant son by the police department and Watkins, according to a press release.

The complaint alleges that Watkins lost control of the vehicle as he fled from a shooting on the city’s South Side at about 60–70 miles per hour, veered onto the sidewalk and struck Harris. The police were instructed to pursue Watkins to stop the chase because of a risk to pedestrians, but their pursuit lasted 20 minutes.
The suit seeks compensation for damages and attorney’s fees.
