Community activists and other leaders are hosting a Remembrance March on Friday in Atlanta for the murdered members of the historical black church in South Carolina. Nine black churchgoers, including the pastor, were slaughtered by a lone white gunman, Dylann Roof, entered Charleston, S.C.’s Emmanuel AME Church and, after sitting for about an hour, opened fire on the congregants at point blank range.
The remembrance event will begin on Friday evening at 7 p.m. at the Georgia Capital, 206 Washington St. in the Capital Square.
Event is billed as an homage to slain South Carolina state Senator Clementa Pinckney. Davis Bozeman Law Firm, the FTP Moevement, Let us Make Man, SisterCARE Alliance, #itsbiggerthanyou, Save OurSelves and other organizations are expected to be in attendance.
