Gov. Nathan Deal will sign legislation that would implement the Opportunity School District (OSD) on Tuesday, April 21, at 2 p.m.
This law lays out the framework for how the OSD would work should voters approve a constitutional amendment in 2016.
The Opportunity School District proposal has come under fire from school administration officials statewide as well as teachers who believe the bill would arbitrarily punish certain schools.
Deal will also sign the Utopian Academy for the Arts bill that prevents local authorities from obstructing the opening of a state-chartered school.
