“Ain’t no party like an EMANON party because an EMANON party don’t stop.”
Each year the brothers of EMANON, that’s no name spelled backwards, invite friends and family to their yuletide party and the party begins at the door. The evening begins with warm apple cider, smooth eggnog and a slight nudge to participate in their “infamous” icebreaker game. They affectionately call it the EMANON Congeniality Challenge. It consists of 30 questions, here is a sample: find someone who watches Blackish, find someone who plays no limit hold ‘em poker, find someone who will give you a hug and a kiss. The key to winning the fabulous prizes is to find someone who will truthfully sign each line on the page; after the game guests retreat to their tables for a delightful dinner followed by dancing to the Flo Wilson Band.
EMANON was organized in 1954 and is the second-oldest Black men’s social club in Pittsburgh.
EMANON members on this year’s program were Dr. Lawrence Davis, Alan Cousar, Paul Dorsey, Robert E. Nicklos, Joe Thomas, Dr. Theodore Towns and President Clarence Curry Jr.
