A Cobb County high school backetball coach was arrested after she allegedly bit another coach in the eye and nose and threatened his life.
Coach Melonie MartinĀ is also accused of throwing a chair at him. The police said theĀ assault happened during a profanity laced argument in an office with that coach, according to the arrest warrant.
Police charged Martin with simple batteryĀ and making terroristic threats.
South Cobb High School did not divulge her status as a coachm, but she did bond out of jail the same night.
Martin’s attorneyĀ sent a letter to Channel 2 Action News rebuffing the story that was aired.
“Since the incident, Ms. Martin consistently denied touching (the coach) and certainly never threatened his safety. While she would like to respond in great detail revealing (the victim’s) true motivation for making such a sensational claim, based upon the advice of counsel, she must respect legal process and will introduce facts at the appropriate time in court,” attorney S. Carlton Rouse said. “Until then, Ms. Martin intends to vigorously fight the spurious claims by (the victim) and will continueĀ to do what is in her power to protect her clean reputation for excellence in the classroom and in athletic programs within the school.”
