Prime time television is aflame these days, partly because African American talent is allowed to shine on the national stage in ways they’ve rarely done in the annals of American television.
In addition to the juggernaut, blockbuster ratings produced by Shonda Rhimes’ masterpieces “Scandal” and “How to Get Away With Murder,” (which helped star Viola Davis win a People’s Choice Award to boot), FOX premiered with superstars Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard and others in the hip hop inspired “Empire.”
Speaking of Rhimes, she and other celebrities such as Star Jones and Gaboruney Sidebe joined fans and tuned into the show in droves and showed out on Twitter.
