Michigan Chamber Of Commerce Elects Officers For 2015

Michigan Chamber of Commerce LogoMembers of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce have elected new officers to its Executive Committee for 2015. The Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the Michigan Chamber set policy and establish priorities for the statewide business organization on key economic issues that affect job creation and business growth in Michigan.
Denice M. LeVasseur, President of LeVasseur & LeVasseur, PC, in Southfield, will serve as Chair of the Michigan Chamber’s Board of Directors for 2015. She replaces Scott L. Holman, President, CEO & Owner of King Lake Wilderness, LLC, in Covington, who will become the Immediate Past Chair. Mark Davidoff, Michigan Managing Partner at Deloitte LLP, in Detroit, was re-elected Treasurer.
“Thanks to smart policies and effective leadership by Governor Snyder and legislative leaders, Michigan is growing again and so is the Michigan Chamber,” noted LeVasseur, who serves as the principal shareholder and managing attorney at her law firm that specializes in workers’ compensation.
“With a successful General Election behind us, the Michigan Chamber expects 2015 to be another good year and we are excited about the opportunities ahead for the Great Lakes State,” LeVasseur said. “Chamber members and staff are working now to develop pro-active legislative priorities for the 2015-16 session that will be submitted to the Board of Directors for review and approval in January.”
“We are very excited about Denice serving as chair of the Michigan Chamber Board of Directors in 2015,” said Michigan Chamber President & CEO Rich Studley. “Denice is an experienced and dedicated volunteer leader, successful attorney and small business owner who has made invaluable contributions – in both time and guidance – to the Chamber for many years, and we look forward to working with her as Board Chair in the coming year.”
The Michigan Chamber’s Executive Committee consists of seven vice chairs, each representing a different geographic region.
Five vice chairs were re-elected to serve in 2015. They are: Raymond A. Biggs, President & CEO of West Shore Bank, in Ludington (District I – Upper Peninsula and Northern Lower Michigan); Howard J. Miller, Chairman & CEO of Howard Miller Companies in Zeeland (District II – West Central); Joseph R. Fabiano, II, Principal ofFabiano Brothers, Inc., in Bay City (District III – East Central); Mike W. Puerner, Vice President & General Counsel, Hastings Mutual Insurance Company in Hastings (District IV – Southwestern); and William Deary, CEO of Great Lakes Caring home Health & Hospice in Jackson (District V – South Central).
Brian D. Eggers, Principal & Co-Founder of AKT Peerless Environmental  & Energy Services, in Farmington, was elected as a new vice chair for District VI (Southeastern); and John Lindow, Vice President – Controller for Masco Corporation in Taylor, was elected as a new vice chair for District VII (Lower Southeastern).
The Michigan Chamber of Commerce is a statewide business organization representing approximately 6,700 employers, trade associations and local chambers of commerce. The Michigan Chamber represents businesses of every size and type in all 83 counties of the state. Michigan Chamber member businesses provide jobs to 1.5 million residents. One of every 2.6 employees in Michigan works for a Chamber member firm. The Michigan Chamber was established in 1959 to be an advocate for Michigan’s job providers in the legislative, political and legal process. It is one of only six state chambers accredited by the U.S. Chamber and one of only four state chambers accredited with distinction.
