Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White is presented with an award by James Archambeau, President of the Illinois High School and College Driver Education Association, during a Traffic Safety Fair sponsored by State Farm with more than 800 high school students in attendance at the House of Hope Arena on Chicago’s far southeast side.
The award commemorates White’s induction into the IHSCDEA Hall of Fame for his ongoing commitment to teen driver safety. Under White’s leadership, teen driving deaths have dropped by nearly 55 percent since he overhauled Illinois’ Graduated Driver Licensing program in 2008, giving Illinois one of the best GDL programs in the nation.
