RAINBOW PUSH TO COMMEMORATE 15 YEARS OF “DRIVING” ETHNIC INCLUSION IN THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY

The Rainbow PUSH Automotive Project, an initiative of the Citizenship Education Fund, will celebrate 15 years of “driving ethnic inclusion” into automotive business practices and establishing relationships during its 15th Annual Rainbow PUSH Global Automotive Summit.
Since 1998, the Rainbow PUSH Global Automotive Project has worked tirelessly to bridge the gap and level the field of opportunity in the automotive industry for people of color.
This year’s milestone theme: “Driving Ethnic Inclusion in the Global Automotive Expansion” – Celebrating a 15-Year Journey Promoting Equal Opportunities for People of Color will be a commemorative conference. Rainbow PUSH and the Automotive Project will reflect on the organization’s achievements and direction, while working to improve diversity and creating more opportunities for people of color. Scholarships will also be provided to 25 students attending various colleges and universities across the nation.
This year’s highlighted speakers include:
Award-winning journalist Ed Gordon will serve as panel moderator for the Leadership Town Hall Breakfast & Panel Discussion, titled, “A New Narrative: Has Diversity Become A Diversion?”   Panelists include: George Curry, National Newspaper Publishers Association; Prof. Leonard Greenhalgh, Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth; Dr. Julianne Malveaux, economist and author; Benjamin Chavis, Jr., interim president and CEO of National Newspaper Publisher Association; and Ron Busby, Sr., U.S. Black Chamber of Commerce.
The Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., president and founder, Rainbow PUSH Coalition, will host Mary Barra, CEO, General Motors; and Dave Zuchowski, president and CEO, Hyundai Motor America at the sold out, Business and Education Awards Luncheon in a discussion, titled, “Automotive CEO’s Speak on the Positive Effects of an All-Inclusive Ethnic Minority Business Environment.”
Alfred Edmond, Jr., SVP and Chief Content Officer, Black Enterprise Magazine will serve as the panel moderator on the “Spotlight on Automotive Minority Legacy Suppliers: Coaching the Next Generation” panel among John W. Barfield, founder, Bartech Group; Lawrence Crawford, D.D.S. Chairman and CEO, Diversity Vuteq; Steve Hightower, president, Hightowers Petroleum Company; John James, chairman and CEO, The James Group International; Louis James, president and CEO, MCL Jasco; William “Bill” Pickard, chairman and CEO, VITEC and Global Automotive Alliance; Leon Richardson, president and CEO, ChemicoMays; Roderick Rickman, chairman and CEO, Rickman Enterprise Group.
The Living Legends and Emerging Leaders Awards & Networking Reception later that evening will honor six remarkable individuals. Living Legends honorees: Eric Peterson, U.S. vice president, Diversity Dealer, General Motors; Leon Richardson, president and CEO, ChemicoMays; James “Jimmy” Settles, Jr., vice president, United Auto Workers; Louis Green, president, Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council; Emerging Leaders Andre Hudson (Hyundai Motor America, and Machelle Williams (Volkswagen Group of America).
