Divorce?!? We didn’t even know Iggy Azalea was married to begin with.
And guess what? Iggy didn’t know she was married either.
However, according to the legal divorce documents filed in Texas by former boyfriend-producer Hefe Wine, aka Maurice Williams, he is now seeking to end what appears to be a common law marriage.
Wine claims that he and Azalea “agreed to be married, holding themselves out as man and wife and began residing together in the State of Texas on or about September, 2008,” the document says, according to tmz.com. Wine says they began living separately last year.
According to Texas law, a man and a woman who live together for any length of time are considered legally married if they agree to be married and hold themselves out to others as husband and wife.
Iggy’s camp told the popular entertainment tabloid blog, denying that she ever held herself out as Hefe’s wife and never agreed to be married.
But then again, she also denied the existence of a sex tape between her and Wine, but she later recanted her denial.
Here is what may be behind the Hefe Wine divorce filing: Wine stands to make many millions of dollars to the music that Iggy wrote while they were “legally married.” Therefore, Wine asked the judge to prohibit Iggy from selling various assets they accumulated during the marriage.
If the judge recognizes the marriage, all of her music during the union becomes community property and she would have to split the millions 50/50.
Iggy’s people denounce Hefe Wine’s divorce filing as a charade in order to siphon off some of her stacks of Benjamins.
Azalea has since been in a yearlong relationship with Los Angeles Lakers guard Nick Young.
