SNAP accepted at Bloomfield Saturday Market

Late in August, the Bloomfield Development Corporation (BDC) launched the SNAP benefit program at the Bloomfield Saturday Market. This program allows SNAP/food stamps users to purchase food at the Market with their EBT cards.

The SNAP program makes fresh, seasonal produce and healthy, locally produced foods accessible to everyone. Coupled with conventional, chemical-free, and organic produce at a variety of price points, the program ensures that everyone is able to shop at the Market.
As an added benefit of the program, the Market can now accept credit and debit cards. No longer do you need to run to an ATM machine!
Use your EBT/credit/debit cards at the market by heading to the red Information tent. Let the person staffing the booth know how much you’d like to put on your card. After charging the amount, you’ll be handed a corresponding amount of wood tokens  that you can spend like cash at any of the vendors in the Bloomfield Saturday Market.
EBT users get red tokens to help vendors remember that it is illegal to give change or purchase hot foods with SNAP benefits.
Didn’t use all of your tokens in one visit? Save them for next week, or bring them back to receive a refund.
